MAC lipstick

My recent obsession with MAC lipsticks has grown, I have now got five. The colours I own are Angel, Honeylove, Snob, Twig and Rebel.

The only problem I have with these lipsticks is that they are fairly pricey being £15.50 per lipstick. This is quite a lot however, you do get what you pay for because they are good quality and I think will last for quite a long time. 

For the darkest shade 'Rebel'  I find it easiest to use a lip liner first because then it is easier to get a cleaner line. The lip liner that I would recommend for Rebel is called 'Plum" and it is a deep brown/purple shade. Rebel is a satin lipstick and it applies smoothly with a slightly matte finish however there is a sheen to it. The colour itself is a deep berry purple shade and I have to say this is one of my all time favourite colours.

For Twig I use the lip liner 'Soar'. I spoke to someone in the MAC store when I was purchasing it and she recommended this lip liner and I have to say the combination works so well together! Twig also has a satin finish and it is a dark nude brown shade - this makes it perfect on a night out when you want a dark-ish lip but nothing too dramatic! It is now one of my go to lipsticks because it can go with so many different type of make up looks.

With the other three shades I tend not to use a lip liner as much because I find they do not smudge as much. Angel has a frost finish and this makes the colour more shimmery, I personally love this lipstick because it is a light pink colour but due to the finish of the lipstick it makes it slightly more sparkly when you wear it. However, the colour of this lipstick is still lovely and it can be used a lot. Another pink lipstick is Snob. This has a satin finish but I find it is slightly more matte than the other two satin lipsticks. Snob is a light pink but it is very opaque when applying, I love wearing this lipstick when I have a gold eyeshadow look because I feel the combination is really pretty.
Finally Honeylove is a light nude colour. This colour is perfect to wear on a day to day basis. It has a matte finish so it can become a bit drying. However, it is extremely long lasting and can last for around 6 hours. I find this is my go to day lipstick because it goes with absolutely everything!

I have a few other MAC lipsticks which I would like to get however as they are fairly pricey I may have to wait for now! I personally think it is worth spending a bit extra for MAC lipsticks because you do get what you pay for.

Bite Lip Lab

Recently my family and I visited New York, and whilst there my mum booked for my aunt, herself and I to go to this place in Prince Street where you can make your own lipstick.

Once we entered the shop we sat down on stools in front of mirrors with a gap in so we could talk to the lady who was serving us so she could help us create our perfect shade. She first gave us a lipscrub and then a lip balm in order to prep our lips. There were many different lipstick shades which could be mixed to create your own unique colour. 

I chose to go for a dark berry type shade due to my recent obsession with 'Rebel' by MAC.

The person who was serving us was very helpful and mixed together different shades in order to create the perfect colour. 

I chose my lipstick to have a 'matt creme finish', this is because it is a much more concentrated pigment so thus it is darker and less sheer than the other type of finishes. I tried on the colour to make sure it was what I wanted and that it suited me and the colour lasted the rest of the day so I think this finish was the best for what I wanted!

This was my end colour and the picture doesn't give it that much credit because it was a bit brighter than it seems in the picture but I love it!!

Next we got taken to the next step where we could chose the flavour of our lipstick, you could mix two flavours or just have one. The choices were vanilla, lilac, mint, citrus, mango, blueberry, cherry. I chose a mixture of cherry and vanilla and it isn't too overpowering which I think is nice because otherwise it could be a bit too much. 

Next we got to choose our own casing for our lipsticks - the design of these was based on how women wear down their lipstick shapes over the course of using them. I chose the last one due to that being how I normally keep mine!

The lady made the lipstick by first selecting the colours from a glass cabinet  behind the counter and then they were mixed until it matched the shade we had created earlier and then this was poured into a mould and put onto something which cooled it down so that it became a solid. Once it had formed a solid it was then pressed into the casing of the lipstick and packaged up! 

This was the end product and what my lipstick looks like and I am very happy with it and think is a lovely colour!

The good thing about this company is that even though it is a unique colour if you use it up it can be remade because you get a card with all the information with what colours/flavours etc on it so you can send it off and then get it remade for you! 

I highly recommend going here if you get the chance because it is a really fun and enjoyable thing to do - plus you come out with a unique coloured lipstick!
